  2010-2011 Inaugural Author Fellow, Metro Times Inaugural author fellow at Detroit MetroTimes, awarded to writers pursuing independent reporting projects based in Detroit.  
  2011 Mesa Refuge Selected for writing residency in Marin, CA to work on manuscript for The American Way of Eating.
